Rooted in tradition, shaped by the sea

For most of the year, Al Mirfa is an uncrowded escape from city life. But for a few weeks in February, it transforms into a hive of activity when the Al Dhafra Watersports Festival kicks off. The annual event attracts water sports champions and enthusiasts from far and wide to participate in activities like sailing, rowing and stand-up paddleboarding. It’s also a celebration of the UAE’s traditional seafaring culture through a mix of heritage marine races, cultural exhibitions, traditional markets, dhow sailing and Emirati games.

Some come to Al Mirfa for the culture, others for the competitive spirit and many just to have a relaxed day at the beach. Any type of traveller can find a reason to love it here, so why not come and find yours?
